First Appointment - Lieutenant (from Militia) - Somersetshire Light Infantry - 20th November 1875
Deputy Assistant Commissariat General (Probationer) - Commissariat and Transport Staff (based at Aldershot (12th Company)) - 4th July 1883
South African War - 1878-9 - Kaffir Campaign. Expedition against Sekukuni - Zulu Campaign; Engagement at Zungen Nek, action at Kambula and Battle of Ulundi. Medal with Clasp.
